Data Deletion

How to remove your Instagram connection and your data from Social Growth, and what stays behind.

Effective date: [REQUIRED: effective date]

Not production-ready. This page still contains 3 unfilled required items (marked [REQUIRED: …]). Set LEGAL_EFFECTIVE_DATE, LEGAL_CONTACT_EMAIL, LEGAL_BACKUP_RETENTION on the web deployment.

1. What you can do

GoalWhereWho can do it
Disconnect one Instagram or Facebook accountConnected accounts, section 2Workspace owner or admin
Withdraw the app’s permission on Meta’s sideYour Instagram settings, section 3You, in Instagram
Delete a whole workspace and everything in itSettings, section 4Workspace owner
Delete your own accountSettings, section 5You

Each of these is done by you, signed in. Both deletions ask you to type the workspace name or your email address and to tick a box, and both are permanent.

2. Disconnect an Instagram or Facebook account

  1. Sign in and open the workspace the account is connected to. You need a role that can manage social accounts (owner or admin).
  2. Open Connected accounts (Accounts in the mobile menu).
  3. Choose Disconnect next to the account.

Disconnecting takes effect at once and:

  • permanently deletes the access token we stored for the account;
  • marks the account as disconnected, hides it from the workspace, and turns publishing off for it;
  • cancels posts for it that were still scheduled or queued.

Disconnecting does not remove:

  • posts already published to Instagram, which stay on Instagram until you delete them there;
  • the workspace’s copy of that account’s past posts, analytics history and the content you created, which stay until the workspace is deleted (section 4).

3. Withdraw the app’s permission on Meta’s side

Social Growth never sends Meta a request to withdraw its authorisation, whether you disconnect an account or delete a workspace or account. Only our stored copy of the token is deleted. To also withdraw the authorisation you gave on Instagram, remove Social Growth from the connected apps in your Instagram account settings. This is done in Instagram, not here.

4. Delete a workspace and all its data

Only a workspace owner can do this.

  1. Sign in and open the workspace.
  2. Open Settings and find Delete this workspace. It lists what will happen and what will not.
  3. Type the exact workspace name, tick the box that says you understand it is permanent, and choose Permanently delete workspace.

What then happens:

  • every member loses access at once, and the stored token of every connected account is deleted;
  • posts that were still scheduled or queued are cancelled, and background jobs for the workspace stop doing work;
  • the workspace’s stored records — content, briefs, plans, analytics history, competitor and research data — and every uploaded and generated file in its private storage are deleted;
  • you are shown the result. It says Workspace deleted only when we have checked that no workspace records or stored files remain.

If a step could not finish, for example stored files could not be removed yet, the result says so (Deletion started or Deletion did not finish). Access and stored tokens are already gone at that point, and the remaining clean-up is retried automatically. A post that was being published at the moment of deletion may not be resolved. The deletion cannot be undone.

5. Delete your account

  1. Open Settings in any workspace and find Delete my account.
  2. Type your email address, tick the box, and choose Permanently delete my account.

Deleting your account:

  • removes you from every workspace and ends your sign-in immediately;
  • replaces your email, name and Google identifier with an anonymous placeholder, which cannot be undone;
  • does not delete workspaces or shared content that other members still use.

If you are the only owner of a workspace, deletion is refused and nothing changes. Give another member the owner role, or delete that workspace (section 4), and try again.

6. What is not deleted

  • Content already published on Instagram or Facebook, and whatever Meta holds about you. Meta’s own controls apply.
  • Data held by OpenAI for requests we sent it, which OpenAI’s own terms and settings govern.
  • Records we keep after a deletion: an anonymous placeholder for the deleted workspace or account, audit records of security-relevant actions, the record of the deletion request, and AI usage and cost records with their links to you removed.
  • Copies in backups held by our infrastructure providers, which remain until the backup retention period ends ([REQUIRED: backup retention period]).

7. Automatic deletion notices from Meta

Social Growth does not currently process automatic data-deletion notifications sent by Meta. Deletion happens through the steps above. If you removed the app in your Instagram settings and also want your data deleted from Social Growth, follow section 2 and, if needed, sections 4 and 5.

8. Contact

If a deletion does not finish, or you cannot sign in to delete your data: [REQUIRED: privacy and support contact email]. See also the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
